c. Ipads (There are various games to practice all three grammar concepts for tomorrow’s quiz. Max time is 20 minutes if people want to use an ipad. This will allow all students a time slot to use them.)

Restaurants scenes will begin tomorrow. We will present the scenes Tuesday to the class. Students must be able to act in any role – so you must practice as customer, server, and cook. There will be no written scripts allowed. Students must know the vocabulary to be able to order, ask and answer questions, and take food orders on the spot.

Sit with your groups – have out the restaurant menu that you were provided yesterday. DO NOT LOSE THIS MENU – YOU NEED IT
  • Practice the vocabulary together and use the menus. Today we will have timed practice. You will have 12 minutes to complete the entire skit. We should be able to rotate 3 times. Each time you need to take on a different role. Each time you should practice ordering at a different meal service. Remember the order of service:
  • Greetings/ Drinks-à Go to the kitchen deliver drink order
  • Return to table for food orders-à Bring order to cook
  • Cooks prepare plates (send with silverware but leave something out that the customer will need to request!)
  • Whole time clients are speaking in Spanish at the table – discussing food, menu, restaurant, plans for later, etc…
  • Cooks call meseros when food is ready/ Or meseros ask for food that isn’t up yet
  • Customers request check and discuss tip


La Tarea: Practice vocabulary and be ready to play all roles next class. You will be recorded and graded next class. You will be allowed one practice round for approximately 5-10 minutes before the real skit is presented.

English is not allowed at all. Stay in character the whole time. If there is down time, speak in Spanish. You may talk about anything…. The restaurant, the server, friends, school, girls/boys, food, family, sports, weather… This is a restaurant scene but other topics may surface when there is a moment that an order is not being prepared or placed.

La Tarea: Complete the vocabulary page 93 on two column paper. Add vocabulary on page R2 (5.1)at the end of the book – Expansión de Vocabulary. You will be expected to know this vocabulary as well.

This is due the next class we meet. Plan accordingly to when you are on a field trip. If your field trip is Friday, your work is due tomorrow. If your field trip is tomorrow, your work is due Friday. Team C will submit this work on Friday due to being absent today.

It doesn't really matter that much if we did them out of order.

1. Final presentations will do the restaurant scenes.

2. Valentine’s day mad lib and cards. Fill out the mad lib sheet. Everything must be in Spanish. Students who are not present today are not required to make up the Valentine's Day activities.


La Tarea: Make sure the restaurant packet is fully completed all sections (this is counting as 2 classwork grades). You also need your actual role sheet that you did for the group presentation. I am collecting both and looking at the detail (spelling, grammar, attention to directions). There are some sections that require full sentences.
